The Huron Housing & Redevelopment Commission (HRA) has been involved in housing activities in Huron since 1969. The HRA leases properties to residents across the city, including: Lampe Estates, Field Estates, Bluebird Apartments, and six single-family homes. They also operate the Donnie Wahl Apartments to serve low-income, disabled, non-elderly adults, and the Manor Apartments to serve non-elderly, mentally ill adults. Home Buyer Incentives
Greater Huron is offering home buyer incentive programs to encourage the development of new housing for an expanding Huron workforce. Restricted to the Southtown Residential Development in Huron, these programs help make home ownership possible for many low and moderate-income residents. New home buyers are eligible for up to $12,000 Down Payment Assistance and Interest Free Financing for Lot Purchases. In addition, all Southtown lots are automatically eligible for the Property Tax Abatement Program that reduces property taxes by 50% over the first four years of home ownership.
